Cinematic Discussion with a Northern Irish Accent.

Established by Jim McClean in 2014, BanterFlix is a Northern Irish website that brings together local people with a passion for cinema. We’re a proud member of Film Hub NI’s Community Cinema Network, which has helped BanterFlix evolve from a small blog into a multi-platform film review website.

Our Dark Hedges Movie Club, now into its fourth year of programming, continues to screen an eclectic mix of cult classics and horror and Sci-Fi movies. We bring interesting films, old and new, to audiences here in Belfast.

Our podcast ‘We Need to Talk about Films’ is hosted by our Editor-in-Chief Jim McClean. Each week, Jim is joined in the studio by different members of the BanterFlix team - and the occasional special guest - as they discuss in spoilerific detail some of the latest releases, look back at some cinematic cult-classics that deserve a second viewing, and check out what’s available on UK- based streaming services.

Since 2015, we’ve had a weekly TV show on Northern Vision’s NVTV Channel, reviewing some of the latest releases and cinematic cult classics, and showcasing local filmmakers and events.

Recent screenings include world cinema (The Host, 2006), 35mm screenings (Almost Famous, 2000), classic horror (Carrie, 1976) and sci-fi (The Fly, 1986), and zombie musicals (Anna and the Apocalypse, 2017)!
