Imagine Belfast is an annual festival of politics and ideas. Our mission is to excite people’s minds and passions by organising an inspiring programme of performance, discussion and debate.

Our aims are:
To provide a high quality showcase for new ideas on politics, culture and activism in Northern Ireland;
To encourage the participation of under-represented groups in political/cultural debate and discussion;
To stimulate reflection and debate on difficult and controversial issues;
To promote free speech.

Films and panel discussions are favourite events at the Imagine Belfast festival. In previous years, we have screened fiction and nonfiction films with a political slant, such as Nae Pasaran, Bob Roberts and On Her Shoulders. In 2020, the Festival moved online, and we teamed up with QFT to present the digital premiere of Nicky Larkin’s (Cherrie, Me & HIV) documentary exploring the creation of the Belfast Ensemble’s provocative and powerful Abomination: A DUP Opera.
