The Market Place Theatre and Arts Centre opened in 2000 and provides a year long programme of drama, music, spoken word, dance, literature, visual arts, workshops, conferences, etc.

At intimate gigs and large-scale concerts, audiences can enjoy top Irish and international artists performing across the musical genres. Each season we welcome a myriad of touring theatre companies which add further lustre to our eclectic programming mix.

A vibrant cultural scene really sets Armagh apart and stems from the indigenous talent of our people. Through amateur dramatics and an innovative programme of workshops and exhibitions, The Market Place Theatre and Arts Centre is helping to support a new generation of local artists and performers, ensuring Armagh remains at the forefront of artistic excellence.

The Market Place programme and facilities are enjoyed by local people, neighbours from adjacent counties and visitors to Armagh from much further afield. Audiences and performers alike enjoy unmatched and unrivalled views in the auditorium [unrestricted views, tiered seating, comfortable chairs] and the spacious, modern and airy feel to the venue enables us to deliver exciting performances with a unique Armagh twist.

We programme around 220 performances each year and have invested in a large screen and surround-sound system. This has allowed us to screen classics of world cinema, Hollywood favourites, independent films, and films of local interest. Recent titles have included The Breadwinner, Shoplifters, When Harry Met Sally, Calamity Jane, Psycho and, as part of Film Hub NI's Collective tour, The Dig.
