NIIHR is a community of psychoanalytic psychotherapists in Northern Ireland. We run a bimonthly meeting of our Psychoanalytic Film Club.

NIIHR is a professional forum for psychoanalytic psychotherapists and those working in related mental health fields to pursue their continuing professional development. It was formed in 1990 to further the professional development of psychoanalytic psychotherapy across Northern Ireland.

Over 4 years ago we set up a Psychoanalytic Film Club which meets bimonthly to watch and discuss films from a psychoanalytic perspective. We also run an Annual Autumn Film Event at the Strand Arts Centre which is open to the general public. Through the powerful medium of film we are keen to increase awareness of mental health issues and to explore insights from a psychoanalytic perspective. The films we've screened include A Quiet Place, Shame, Captain Fantastic, and The Clearing.
