Divorcing Jack
Strand Arts Centre presents the NI-set black comedy Divorcing Jack (1998) starring David Thewlis, followed by a Q&A with writer Colin Bateman.
Fresh from two sold-out screenings in Bangor Court House during Open House Festival. Northern Irish writer Colin Bateman will take part in a Q&A session after the film, celebrating its 25 years.
Northern Irish reporter Dan Starkey (David Thewlis) gets entangled in a web of political intrigue and Irish sectarian violence, at the same time as Northern Ireland is set to elect a new Prime Minister. Dan searches for the person who killed his lover, with his only clue being her dying words, “divorce Jack.” Black romantic comedy set around the troubled “peace process” and its effect on a cynical Belfast hack. Also stars Laura Fraser, Jason Issacs and Rachel Griffiths.
Writer Colin Bateman adapted his own 1995 book as the screenplay.
