Docs Ireland 2023: The Computer Accent @ SARC

6:00 PM 23rd June 2023 Sonic Arts Research Lab

Docs Ireland 2023 & SARC presents a special evening of music, film and AI with a screening of The Computer Accent (2022), about the band YACHT's experimentations with AI and recording, accompanied by the premiere of brand new AI music piece and talks on music and AI.

The screening will commence with a specifically curated short music piece, created with the use of Artificial Intelligence. The piece was specifically made for this event by a variety of researchers from SARC in a kind of “mesh-up” fashion!

Come and listen to the “future of music”! Franziska Schroeder (Professor of Music and Cultures) and Policy violinist and current SARC PhD researcher, Aga Olek, will introduce the screening by offering some insights on ‘intelligent music’ and the ‘future of the artificial’.

Boundary-pushing pop group YACHT tackles the greatest challenge of their career: inviting Artificial Intelligence into their creative process. As cutting-edge technology collides with their DIY sensibilities, the band struggles to understand the future of music—and their place within it.

This Special Screening will take place in the Sonic Lab at SARC: Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Sound and Music.
