Obsession: High Fidelity in 35mm

1:00 PM 20th July 2019 Queen's Film Theatre

“What came first the music or the misery…Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?”

QFT presents a 35mm screening of High Fidelity, starring John Cusack as Rob, a record store owner and compulsive list maker, who recounts his top five break-ups, including the one in progress.

Rob Gordon (Cusack) is the owner of a semi-failing record store in Chicago, where he sells music the old-fashioned way -- on vinyl. He's a self-professed music junkie who spends his days at Championship Vinyl with his two employees, Dick (Todd Louiso) and Barry (Jack Black).

Although they have an encyclopedic knowledge of pop music and are consumed with the music scene, it's of no help to Rob, whose needle skips the love groove when his long-time girlfriend, Laura (Iben Hjejle), walks out on him. As he examines his failed attempts at romance and happiness, the process finds him being dragged, kicking and screaming, into adulthood.

This screening is part of Film Feels: Obsession, a UK-wide cinema season, supported by the National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network. Explore all films and events at filmfeels.co.uk
