Shifting Ground Applications Now Open From Film Hub North
Shifting Ground is the second instalment of Changing Times: a nationwide funding programme dedicated to uncovering the many voices, hidden histories and forgotten stories that make up our collective past.
It is a celebration of archive film and its special ability to connect stories of the past with pressing issues of the present. From August to December 2019, Shifting Ground will support a series of adventurous collaborations between exhibitors and archives that respond to one of the most important debates facing society today: people's changing relationship with their environment.
In a moment of accelerating transformation where our roles as owners, users and custodians of the spaces around us are increasingly contested, Shifting Ground presents an opportunity to contribute valuable historical insight to contemporary conversations around climate change, land use, and crises of housing and industry. Funding will support ambitious events that reflect on peoples' past relationships with their surroundings, inform current debate and provide audiences with fresh perspectives from unexpected places.
There's two ways for organisations to get involved with Shifting Ground. The Engagement Fund supports organisations to develop their own projects that showcase UK film history in creative ways and ask audiences to reconsider the connection between people and their environment. Funding of £500 - £15,000 is available and applications are open now - download the Engagement Fund Guidelines for more information. In the coming months, we'll also announce a feature film reissue inspired by the theme of Shifting Ground - this title is expected to be available from August 2019.
